We've come to the end of October already. It felt like with a blink, it flew past without warning. WHAT News: Craft Show
I was SUPER excited yesterday when I received this in the mail! My Dear Darling's first ever craft show will be at the Mill Valley Holiday Craft Fair on December 5ht! :D I applied for it a couple months back and got accepted. I'm stoked and I hope that you'll be able to stop by to say hello.
OFF Topic: Flamenco Show
This week I have a lot of exciting news for you. Yesterday, we started off with the Fan Food Contest and today, I have two announcements and later on this week, I'll be revealing one of the Holiday Penguin Series!
If you're in Southern California on November 21st, you should stop by and watch "Dejame Bailar!" which is a great introduction to the passionate dance of Flamenco. I'm not just saying that because my mom's one of the dancers, but I had the pleasure of going to the first show last year and I had a lovely time. If you've never seen Flamenco and only know it as "Flamingo" (a very common mistake) then you should definitely check this show out. The students are mostly women at various skill levels and it's a wonderful treat being able to see the growth from a beginner to an advanced dancer. You don't get to experience that often in a performance. ;) I've been to Flamenco shows with professional dancers and they will blow your mind with their swift hand movements, intense foot work and beautiful rhythmic beats. I definitely recommend going to one just for the experience.

I haven't done a Shout Out in a long time but I've been meaning to share this cute cup shop I found on Etsy a few months back. I was browsing through the Pounce feature, looking for something to buy for my office and came across Mie Kongo Studio. I saw the penguin cups and I just HAD to have one. So I did, after hours of debating which penguin cup to get: the 4oz or the 8oz? I went ahead with the 8 and I LOVE it! :D Mini does too.

Darling Moments
Prior to meeting his new towel friends, Mini had to take part in the emergency cruise drill. Too bad they don't carry a small enough life vest for him. That would've been a cute photo op. Instead, I held him over the deep waters near the port of San Diego for shots of the ocean and some ships. :)

Inspirations
Happy Friday. Thank you to everyone for ALL the great feedback on the Zombie Penguin via this blog, Facebook Fan Page and Twitter. I'm thinking of making minor tweaks but nothing too extreme. NEW My Dear Darling Gift
NEW Zombie Penguin Plush
Last night, my husband and I watched Quarantine (husband's choice, of course). How appropriate, right? I usually cover my eyes in scary movies, but from what I saw, the zombies somewhat looked like this penguin: Guts coming out, stitches after they were bitten and the discoloration of their skin. Enjoy! :)
I'm receiving requests on an entire line of not-so-cute penguins. What's your take? Do you like the zombie?

The storm seems to have passed. Not quite sunny yet, but you can see it peeping through the clouds. No broken branches today. I recorded what it sounded like from my studio and it's quite scary. I'll have to ask my husband to see how to upload it so you can hear what I had to listen to the past three nights. If it's still raining in your area, please be careful when you're driving.

My husband's been begging me to post photos of his favorite penguin that I've created. He's somewhat of a zombie enthusiast so one day, he asked me to make him a Zombie Penguin. I refused since it wasn't going to look cute, and I like cute. But he insisted that I make one so I finally did. It's finished but I'm not 100% sure if I want to sell it since it's quite scary. He took it to work last week and said all his coworkers, even his bosses, loved it. Here's a sneak peak of the stomach:

Mini Penguin with Towel Friends
Hello. I hope everyone's day is much brighter than mine. I mean that in a physical sense since there's a storm going on here. Brandon and I moved into this apartment over a year ago and around this time last year, there was a storm. In the middle of the night, I heard a huge crash right outside our window; a big tree branch had fallen and hit our balcony. No damage, just scared. This morning, I heard the same crash and it turns out it's the same tree but a bigger branch! The wind's howling, the raining is pounding and my windows are shaking. Hopefully all the other branches will stay on the tree for the rest of the winter.
On a brighter note, I wanted to share a few photos of Mini with his towel friends. Towel friends are creatures made by folding and rolling up towels. They're usually sitting on your cruise cabin bed waiting for your return. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I came back to the cabin after breakfast and found one. I tried figuring out how they made it but gave up since I couldn't roll it back into its original form. From then on, I was excited to find out what animal would be greeting us.
Can you guess what each animal is? I think these were the easier ones... I had a hard time figuring out what other ones were, which is why I probably didn't take a picture of them with Mini. :P Oh, and one of our friends said he got a towel monkey hanging from a light fixture! Sorry, no photo of that.
